vroute error

Post by Derek317 » Mon May 28, 2012 7:28 am

Hi,
I'm new to vroute and VATSIM and wanted to recreate some routes from my past career in aviation. I tried EGHI to EGMC and it worked first time. But on trying to create the reverse route it came up with errors:

ERRORS AT FL = 070:
(FPL-LOT001-IS -AT43/M-SDRWY/S -EGMC0850 -N0250F070 DCT DET SFD GWC SAM DCT -EGHI0050 -0) ROUTE144: NO ROUTE BETWEEN DET AND SFD ROUTE144: NO ROUTE BETWEEN SFD AND GWC
ROUTE144: NO ROUTE BETWEEN GWC AND SAM

Any ideas what I did wrong?

1) Try inserting DCT between the two waypoints
2) If the above doesn't work, you're trying a direct flight where there's an opposite direction airway in place or something similar.

In general, VOR-to-VOR flights are hardly permitted anywhere, except rural countryside in unpopulated areas. Please look for an airspace chart and see what airways are there.

Hello,
I guess I must have been lucky first time with EGHI to EGMC. I must admit to using a VFR chart at the time and assumed that routing via VORs would be ok. That aside, any tips on on more success in making up simple routes?

A good IFR route consists of a valid departure (SID), airway-to-airway core, and a valid arrival (STAR). Once you get three things together, read the error messages carefully and adjust until Eurocontrol has nothing more to add ;)
