Predefined path
Hello,
Is there any chance to add feature that saves exported plans to predefined path so I don't need to browse every time I export the flight plan ?
That would be absolutely amazing.

Re: Predefined path
Possible, but not on vroute side
IE picks the file destination. It cannot differentiate file types and remember their download destinations (as in "I put MP3s in my music folder but DOC files in documents"). But there are multiple "download accelerator" programs on the market and many of them have such a feature. Maybe you could try one and let me know your what your experience was?

Re: Predefined path
I usualy export 2 FP which makes it a little annoying as I need to browse twice. Is there no chance to avoid doing it via IE and hard-code it in vroute ? I know it may be a daunting task but it would be really really nice feature.
Can you recommend any download accelerator that could do this for me ?
Keep up good work, vroute is the best piece of software ever.

Re: Predefined path
Its really not possible from vroute end, IE will NEVER permit a remote application to instruct on download folders as it would pose a security threat (imagine a web app suggesting you download something to Windows\System folder).
Try GetRight, I think it has the download locations distinction feature (actually, it's the only accelerator i ever used).

Re: Predefined path
I have a solution to this. Quite by chance at work I discovered a feature in XP (not sure if W7 will have it) that allows you to customise the My Places entries that are displayed to the left in a Load and Save dialogue box.
I have created two new My Places entries - one for FS PLN files and another for SBP files for Project Magenta. So when I save each type of file the destination folder is a single click away.
Watch this video on YouTube and you should be able to create your own "My Places". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUzJN0ksKg4
Hope it helps!

Re: Predefined path
Hi Ray,
the gpedit.msc shown in your link only applies to 'Pro' versions of Windows, it can be done in 'Home' versions by editing a few lines in the registry using regedit.
1. In the registry editor, navigate to the following key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\comdlg32
Before you make any changes, make sure you back up the Policies Key. With the Policies Key selected, go to File/Export, name the file Policies, and save it to the Desktop.
2. Right click the comdlg32 key and select New/Key. Name the key Placesbar.
3. Select the new Placesbar key and in the right side pane, right click and select New/String Value. Name this value Place0.
You can create up to 5 string values.
Place0
Place1
Place2
Place3
Place4
(The keys and values are all case sensitive)
4. Right Click each one of the new string values and select Modify. In the Value Data box, enter the path to the location for that value.
Here is what it should look like.

5. After you make changes, close regedit to see those changes. Now when you click "save to", you will have 5 folders of your choice in the left pane of the save window, just click on one of the folders to save to it.

Re: Predefined path
Thanks for clarifying that Adrian and for posting the instuctions for standard XP. I wondered what benefits the Pro version had. Now I know.
